Writer and lawyer in Philosophy. He earned a Master of Arts from the University of London in 1976 and taught Spanish Literature at Oxford. He has written poetry, fiction and drama. In 1973, his second novel, Busto, won Spain’s Barral award. In 2007 he published El abrecartas, for which he received Spain’s National Award for Fiction. His most recent novels are El invitado amargo (2014) and El jóven sin alma (2017).
