Alberto ARCE

Political scientist and journalist. Before working for The New York Times in Mexico City, he operated as a freelance reporter in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Libya. He directed, together with Mohammad Rujailah, the documentary To Shoot an Elephant, dedicated to the ambulance teams of the Gaza Strip and to the 1,412 Palestinian victims of operation Cast Lead. He worked in Guatemala for Plaza Pública, and was AP correspondent in Honduras between 2012 and 2014. He is the author of Misrata Calling. For his work in Honduras he received the Tom Renner Award (2014); the Batten Medal, from the American Society of Newspaper Editors (2014); the Robert Spiers Benjamin Award for Best Latin American Coverage (2012); an award from the Deadline Club, the Society of Professional Journalists in New York, in the Newspaper or Digital Beat Reporting category (2013); the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Best Foreign Correspondence (2013), and others.
