(UK, 1955) Amanda Levete CBE is an award-winning British architect and the founder and principal of AL_A. Her recent projects include the Victoria & Albert Museum Exhibition Road Quarter in London, the Museum of Art, Architecture & Technology (MAAT) in Lisbon, commissioned by EDP; Central Embassy, a 1.5 million sq ft luxury shopping mall and hotel in Bangkok; and a media campus and headquarters building for the broadcaster Sky in London. Ongoing work includes the transformation of the flagship Galleries Lafayette Haussmann department store in Paris; a new centre for the cancer care charity Maggie’s in Southampton; two new buildings for Wadham College at the University of Oxford; the renovation and expansion of Paisley Museum in Scotland; and the Monte St Angelo subway station in Naples. She was previously a partner at Future Systems, where she realised buildings including the RIBA Stirling Prize-winning Media Centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and Selfridges department store in Birmingham.
