Minibeast Safari and Treasure Hunt

Venue: RSPB Stand

Ready for an adventure? Grab your nets and pots and come on a safari into the wild garden to find what creatures are hiding under the leaves, logs and in the long grass. Along the way you’ll discover the many shades of colours that nature takes, as you collect natural treasures and create a colour collage.

Venue: The Storytelling Nook

Drop in writing sessions to create a collaborative poem, with different themes every day. Come and explore your creativity with Emma Beynon, who has a wealth of experience running creative writing workshops and has an infectious approach to building a story. Emma is currently writing a novel based on her sailing adventures in Svalbard and her educational writing includes Making Poetry Happen (Bloomsbury, 2015).

The role of solar in the life of a modern day explorer

Venue: The Storytelling Nook

The celebrated British Polar explorer, Land Rover ambassasor and Ladybird author talks about the importance of solar in his 2013-14 expedition – a 1,800-mile return journey to the South Pole on foot that broke the record for the longest ever polar journey on foot - retracing the steps of Captain Scott's 1911-12 Terra Nova expedition, and shares a reading of his upcoming Ladybird book, Shackleton, in which he brings to life the history, dangers and challenges of Shackleton's Endurance expedition.

Screenprinting with Sunny Todd Prints

Venue: Scribblers Hut

Learn how to silk-screen print with locally based and internationally acclaimed textile designers Sunny and Emma Todd. Their bold, graphic artwork is stocked in Liberty, Heal’s, Le Bon Marché, Amara and Anthropologie. Sunny is also a textiles lecturer at Hereford College of Arts. Create your own one-off stencil and screenprint it onto a canvas bag for you to take away (Fairtrade and UK-produced).

Join us in a continuing conversation about Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing. Informative and interactive workshop with Claire Jackson, Family Mediator from Wye Valley Mediation and Young Person’s author, Saci Lloyd (The Carbon Diaries). A variety of professionals who work with in the fields of child bereavement, addiction and gaming will be joining us along with Young People to share their experiences.
