Welcome to the Hay Festival Querétaro 2023 programme. The festival will take place from 7 to 10 September. We will have 105 activities with 151 interantional guests from 20 countries, and with Hay Joven, Hay Festivalito, Hay Delegaciones and Talento Editorial events, as well as two activities in Cadereyta.

A special concert with the State of Queretaro Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the Ukrainian Mark Kadin, Principal Conductor of the OFEQ, together with the Argentinian pianist Marcela Roggeri and the trumpet soloist Mtro. Ángel Aguilar Castillo. The programme includes Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Shostakovich’s First Piano and Trumpet Concierto and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.

The Latin American current affairs podcast El Hilo en Directo, produced by Radio Ambulante Estudios, brings a live episode with the Mexican-American composer and artist Lila Downs, winner of six Grammys and whose songs form part of the living culture of Mexico and Latin America, and who has worked with artists including Totó La Momposina, Niña Pastori, Celso Piña and Kevin Johansen. This is a very special episode of El Hilo, and on this occasion the public can attend in person. Lila will be n conversation with Eliezer Budasoff and Silvia Viñas.

One of the founding members and the bassist with the most legendary group in the history of punk, the Sex Pistols, comes to Queretaro to tell us about his musical history. Glen Matlock (United Kingdom) made a decisive contribution to the sound and image of the Sex Pistols, and co-wrote many of their iconic songs, including Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen. Since then, Matlock has continued his musical career, working with various artists, and releasing music as a soloist and with his own band, Rich Kids, and also writing the musical autobiography Triggers, a Life in Music. Colin Greenwood, the bass player with Radiohead, one of the world’s most popular rock bands, visits the Hay Festival in Queretaro to present How to Disappear, a kind of visual diary about Radiohead, created based on 20 years of photos in the band’s dressing rooms and rehearsal spaces and at concerts. The images are accompanied by the musician’s own texts, which offer a viewpoint onto the creation and execution of the music of Radiohead, in a kind of intimate portrait of one of the most influential bands in history. He will talk to a legend in his own right, the musician and bassist of bands such as Fobia and Moderatto, el Cha.
