Welcome to the Hay Festival Arequipa 2022 programme, the edition in which we returned to in person events, after two digital editions due to the covid pandemic. Hay Festival Arequipa 2023 will run 9-12 November.

Hay Forum Moquegua was also in person. Hay Forum Moquegua 2023 will be at November 9.

The singer, musician, composer and visual artist Andrea Echeverri (Colombia) is also one of Latin America’s most loved pop-rock singers. The Aterciopelados vocalist comes to Peru with Ruiseñora, which the artist presents in this way: “I am Andrea Echeverri Arias, RUISEÑORA, singer by profession and a shameless adult in a society that is ill, unequal, violent and sexist. My voice has grey hairs, wrinkles and certainties, its apocalyptic sounds move the earth, although not without an ironic touch and a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Jorge Alejandro Ccoyllurpuma was born in Cusco and his creative work has always been related to Andean culture and the Quechua language. He has worked to strengthen the native languages of Peru through the publication of poetry with translations into Quechua. His work is compiled for the first time in the volume Paraíso tropical andino. L E N I N is the artistic name of Lenin Tamayo Pinares, well-known as the creator of Q-pop, a fusion between the world famous Korean K-pop and Quechua- and Spanish-language Andean music. In 2021, when he published the music video Cuando estoy aquí, recorded in the historical centre of Lima, his style went viral on TikTok, achieving 2.5 million views. As well as mixing Peruvian sounds with the pop, rap, R&B and rock styles present in K-pop, his dance routines contain steps from traditional dances such as La Diablada. In conversation with the Arequipan filmmaker, graphic artist and cultural manager, Edward de Ybarra.

With the contributions of over a hundred authors and more than 350 original tracks, The Spanish Real Book is an anthology with a wide range of scores composed by some of the most outstanding musicians in the recent history of jazz in the Spanish-speaking world. María Toro (Spain), one of the participating composers, will talk about this project, her career and her particular style, in which she includes elements of flamenco jazz and New York jazz. Gonzalo Cañellas is a Spnish audiovisual producer, amateur musician and coeditor of The Spanish Real Book. This event promises to be a useful guide for those who are starting out as musicians or who are looking for new sounds, but also for lovers of good music in general. In conversation with Marcos Manrique, they will talk about how the book project came about and its production process.
