Hay Festival Cartagena 2023

Welcome to the Hay Festival Cartagena de Indias 2023 programme, to be held from 26 to 29 January. In this page you can find the events in the general programme as well as Hay Joven activities tor university audiences, Hay Comunitario sessions which will take place in different areas of Cartagena, Reading Clubs and Talento Editorial.

The tickets of the general programme and reading clubs are on sale for in person events. If you wish to register to see the live streaming of events, please select the option "Register to watch online" when this option is available. Hay Joven, Hay Comunitario and Talento Editorial are 100% in person and free of charge.

Valentina Toro studied Graphic Design and later did a Master’s degree in Creative Writing. She is the author and illustrator of eight books, a number of which have been shortlisted for international prizes. Valentina is interested in stories about ghosts, animals, magic and supernatural beings. In her latest book, Los niños imaginarios, she deals with matters including the family and mourning. It tells the story of Lorenzo, who, after the death of his father, moves with his family to a house near a forest, one that his grandmother says is full of monsters. One day, guided by a dog, the child enters the wood and starts to discover all kinds of mysteries.

The Argentinean-US musician Kevin Johansen and the illustrator and cartoonist Liniers (Argentina) unite for an illustrated concert at which the music of Johansen becomes image and Liniers’ drawings become songs. A spectacular and moving live show for singing and setting the imagination free.
