Cities in Overpopulation and Depopulation
–
Biblioteca Municipal de Segovia Casa de la Lectura
In just a few years, the world’s major cities have become real states, with increasingly difficult challenges to resolve, from mobility and environmental sustainability to water issues and the confrontation between great wealth and great poverty. This process has its collateral effects in countries like Spain, where depopulation is pushing many territories, far from the central almonds of large cities, to the brink of human extinction. A dialectic whose answers are only held by the large conurbations, where a future is drawn in which humanism and humanity itself are not easily preserved.
Ángel Cárdenas, manager of Urban Development, Water, and Creative Economies at the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and one of the leading experts on urban development, water, and creative economies, will have a conversation with writer and journalist Carlos Aganzo about the uncertainties of the present and the great challenges of the future.

Nature That Thinks
–
Biblioteca Municipal de Segovia Casa de la Lectura
Contemporary men and women are the "representatives of the future," in the words of naturalist Joaquín Araújo, who has fought for over 50 years in defense of nature and a sustainable environment. Like Miguel Delibes de Castro—who is a close friend of Araujo— the two criticize the overemphasis on technology and the uncontrolled consumption of raw materials. This is a transcendental debate that both will share their views on.
The event will be moderated by Marta del Riego, journalist and writer.
