The intruder is the migrant whom no one has called, who risks his life in search of a better future, who walks mile after mile for months, sometimes years, to reach a land he believes holds opportunities. Sometimes he crosses the sea in the worst conditions. Sometimes they scale walls that are like fortresses. They overcome all their fears in the hope of finding a future for themselves and for the family they surely left behind.
On this occasion, painting, sculpture, and music come together to make us think about them. They have arrived. Who are they, what do they want from me, what do they bring me, what will they do to me, how will their presence, their culture, their drive affect me?
The relationship between Guillem Salas’s nude sculptures, Patricia Azcárate’s pictorial fields, and Alfonso Gargallo’s musical narrative begins with mistrust: at first, the figures hide, feeling uncomfortable, unsure of where to stand, anxiously searching for a place where they can be understood; they wander back and forth without finding their place; until a dialogue emerges: figures and paintings speak to one another, listen to one another, and transform.
The exhibition will be on view from September 8 to 13

The Symphony Orchestra, Big Band and Choir of the British School of Madrid are made up of students, Music21 programme teachers, alumni and parents from the School, who come together to share their passion for making music as an ensemble. The concert will offer a varied repertoire ranging from classical works to contemporary and popular music, including film scores, jazz and choral pieces, and will feature the renowned pianist Luis Fernando Pérez.

Contemporary Spanish music cannot be discussed without mentioning Ramoncín. Since bursting onto the scene in the 1970s at just 22 years old and with a burning desire to take on the world, this Madrid-born artist is responsible for some of the most important anthems in the history of Spanish rock, such as Hormigón, Mujeres y Alcohol, Como un susurro, La chica de la puerta 16, Miedo a soñar, Marica de terciopelo, Estamos desesperados and Ángel de cuero. Armed with a wealth of experience in music, life, and culture, Ramoncín sits down to talk with Santiago Herrero, director of Cultural and Scientific Relations at AECID, to explain how one can continue to be a trailblazer at the age of 70.
