Operating in the UK for over 40 years, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is one of the country’s largest IT employers. The company works with over 150 UK customers, including some of Britain’s best known brands helping them to adapt to the opportunities – and challenges – of the digital economy.

The Spark Salon, a TCS initiative, showcases innovative and thought provoking new perspectives on the role technology plays in helping to create a sustainable world. This year TCS will be hosting 2 separate events exploring: What’s our role in responsibly designing the future? and The magical world of numbers, A new way to understand maths.

On May 27th Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Helen Margetts, Director of the Oxford Internet Institute and Professor of Society and the Internet at University of Oxford and Timandra Harkness, a science writer, presenter and comedian will be debating - as creators, consumers and users do we all need to understand how technology works? And who can we hold to account when it fails?

The second Spark Salon on 2nd June will explore how do we make mathematics fun and inspire young people to want to pursue the world of numbers as a career? Helen Pilcher, a science writer, maths champion and author of Bring Back the King: the New Science of De-Extintinction, Katie Steckles a member of Matt Parker’s Think Maths team and an award-winning science communicator will be hosting this very special alternative Maths lesson.
