Venezuela, Nicaragua and Brazil are three of the countries on Latin America where working as a journalist has become a real challenge to laws and repressive actions of their governments over the past year. Luz Mely Reyes (Venezuela), director and founder of Efecto Cocuyo; Natalia Viana (Brazil), director and founder of the Public Agency of Research Journalism; and Sabrina Duque (Ecuador), a journalist based in Nicaragua and author of the book VolcáNica, crónicas desde un país en erupción, will talk with Jaime Abello Banfi (Colombia), general director of the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism (FNPI) about the challenges of news coverage in these contexts.

This talk will take place within the framework of the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award and is co-organized with the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism (FNPI).
