Mircea Cărtărescu in conversation with Xavi Ayén

Considered as the prodigy of Romanian letters of his generation and winner of the Formentor award in 2018, Mircea Cărtărescu develops his work in verse, prose, fiction, memoirs and essay, between the epic, fantastic and lyric narrative. He is the author of more than 20 books of poetry, novels and essay collections, among them his renowned volume Solenoide, and the trilogy Cegador, a masterpiece that earned him international repute. In 2018 he published a Spanish translation of the first part of the trilogy, which divides into three the body of a huge butterfly. The left wing situates the reader in Bucarest which receives communism at the same time as it hosts gypsies, wandering circuses, sects, dead and even stories of maternal love. In conversation with Xavi Ayén, we will discover the narrative universe of one of the cult authors of contemporary Eastern European literature.
