Deirdre McCloskey is a Distinguished Professor of English, History, Economy and Communication at the University of Illinois and author of 17 books and hundreds of articles about, among other topics, economic theory, economic history and philosophy. Some of them are under her birth name: Donald McCloskey. In 1995 she started the path to being a woman and in 1999 she told the story in her autobiographic book, Crossing: A memoir. In conversation with the English writer and journalist Rosie Boycott, McCloskey reveals the interior of her voyage of transformation.
