Screening of the documentary La casa de Mama Icha

Parque Principal de Jericó

The documentary La casa de Mama Icha (2020), directed by the Colombian filmmaker Óscar Molina, addresses the question of why the inhabitants of a country as diverse and rich in resources as Colombia are forced to leave their land. Mama Icha, a 93-year-old woman who migrated to Philadelphia in the United States, feels the end of her life approaching and, in the midst of this constant reflection, longs for only one thing: to return to her native Mompox. Óscar Molina portrays the return journey of María Dionisia Navarro, "Mama Icha", to Colombia and explores the circumstances that forced her to leave in the first place.
