The End of Night. Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light is a popular science book in which Bogard reflects on matters related to ecology and urban development. Something between a personal memoir, a travel book and scientific observation of nature, this work is a call to the defence of night as a part of nature that should be preserved. Bogard lectures in Creative Non-fiction at James Madison University, Virginia and has edited the anthology Let There Be Light: Testimony on Behalf of the Dark.
