Ellroy Works Up A Storm At Hay

Ellroy told the audience at Hay how In his latest novel This Storm we are back in Los Angeles in1942 in the aftermath of Pearl Harbour. The book  is the second in a quartet following on from Perfidia.

Anti-Japanese paranoia forms the backdrop to the novel, which follows multiple plotlines. Ellroy said, "I love big things, big screens, big films,...I write big."

He began the event with a dramatic in-character reading of the prologue to his latest book, and told the audience he liked to read everything aloud and with a long-abiding love of language, be able to "densify" the reader experience.
