Pedro FAVARON

favaron-pedro Academic researcher, poet, writer, filmmaker and social communicator. He has a PhD in Literature from the University of Montreal. He has specialized in the study of Andean, Amazonian and North American indigenous peoples, developing a philosophical and ecological perspective based on ancestral knowledge and medicinal ceremonies. He has a Master’s degree in Communication and Culture from the Social Science Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires. He published the book of literary criticism Caminando sobre el abismo: vida y poesía en César Moro. His poetry includes the collections Movimiento, published in Buenos Aires; Oeste Oriental, published in Lima; Manantial Transparente, published in Mexico, and the poem Ikaro, also published in Mexico. In terms of fiction, he has published the novel Puka Allpa, viaje hacia la selva invisible, which has been released in different editions in Lima, Argentina and Mexico; and as regards non-fiction, La senda del corazón: sabiduría de los pueblos indígenas de Norteamérica, published in Mexico. He edited the magazine Distancia Crítica: aportes hacia una nueva conciencia social. Since 1998 he has been researching the use of medicinal plants and the medical knowledge of different indigenous peoples in the Americas, particularly Peru and Canada.
