Esther DUFLO

duflo-esther Esther Duflo is the Abdul Latif Jameel Professor for Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at the Economics Faculty of MIT. She studied at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris and at MIT. She is the co-founder and co-Director of the J-PAL Poverty Action Lab. She was listed as one of the eight most outstanding young economists by The Economist, among the hundred most influential thinkers in the world by Foreign Policy, and Fortune magazine’s 40 Under 40 young business leaders. She has received numerous prizes and awards, including the John Bates Clark Medal in 2010 for the Best US Economist Aged Under 40, a Genius award given by the MacArthur Foundation in 2009, a Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences in 2015 and the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2019, together with Abhijit V. Banerjee and Michael Kremer.
