Founded in 2006 in the city of Queretaro, Mexico. Saxodia was created as a chamber music ensemble that plays in different styles based on the possibilities of the saxophone. Currently, Saxodia is responsible for performing saxophone music at the city’s most important venues, and for the creation and dissemination of artistic and cultural projects through music. Its members are Diego Asseo Soledad (alto saxophone), Josué Gutiérrez Villagómez (tenor saxophone), Julio César Miranda Alvarado (baritone Saxophone), and the group is directed by maestro Virgilio Hernández Lozano (soprano saxophone). They have participated at national festivals such as the San Marcos Fair International Festival, the International Jazz Festival of Queretaro and the Santiago Cultural Festival, as well as at festivals of international stature such as the International Jazz Plaza Festival in Havana, Cuba.
