Daniela Tarazona (Mexico City, 1975) is the author of El animal sobre la piedra (Almadía, 2008) and the novel El beso de la liebre (Alfaguara, 2012). In 2020 she published the book Clarice Lispector. La mirada en el jardín (Lumen), together with Nuria Meléndez. Her most recent novel is Divided Island (2024), a work that has been translated into English, French, Portuguese and Chinese. She was a member of the Mexican Young Artists’ programme and of the FONCA National Artists’ Network. In 2022 she was a resident author at the Casa Estudio Cien Años de Soledad, run by the Foundation for Mexican Literature, and the Finestres Literary Residence in 2023. In 2011 she was recognized as one of the 25 literary secrets in Latin America by the Guadalajara International Book Fair. In 2022 she won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize for Divided Island. The stage adaptation of the same book also won the 2024 Narrativas a Scena Award, given by the Casa América Cataluña.
