Mauricio has a doctorate in Politics from Louvain’s Catholic University (Belgium) and another doctorate from the Cachan École Normale Supérieure (France). He currently lectures at the Institute for Politics and International Relations (IEPRI) at the National University of Colombia, works as a researcher with Dejusticia and writes columns for El Espectador newspaper. His most recent publications include Normas de papel (Bogota, 2009), La eficacia simbólica del derecho (Bogota, 2014), El derecho al Estado (with J. R. Espinosa, Bogota 2013), Les pouvoirs du droit (Paris, 2015) and El orden de la libertad (Bogota, 2017), The Powers of Law (2018), Virtudes Cercanas (2019) y Les vertus de mes amis (2019) y El país de las emociones tristes (2020, currently being printed).
