Director and producer of Colombian films with studies in Journalism and the Visual Arts in Colombia and an MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University (USA). His recent work in film has focused on the relationship between economics, migration and home. In 2004 he received the Colombian National Journalism Award for the documentary El reino encantado. He has also worked to build cinema audiences in his country, as a film programmer at art-house cinemas and film festivals. Since 2011 he has been working on researching, developing and producing the documentary trilogy Mi Casa My Home. His films have been shown on Colombian television and screened at film festivals in Havana, Cuba; Rosario, Argentina; Fipatel-Biarritz, France; Bogota and Cartagena, Colombia; the Mexican Human Rights Film Festival; and at Dance Film Festivals in the United States, Spain and Colombia. He is the co-organiser of the Medellin Documentary Film Festival, an initiative that seeks to promote the development and professionalization of documentary production in his city and around the country. Together with Brenda I. Steinecke Soto he founded and runs the Actor Inmaterial production company.
