Elisa Guerra holds a Master's degree in Education from Harvard University. In 2015 she was named Best Educator in Latin America and the Caribbean by the Inter-American Development Bank and was a finalist for the Global Teacher Prize -considered the Nobel Prize for teaching- in 2015 and 2016. She is a member of UNESCO's international Futures of Education commission, and co-author of the report Reimaginar juntos nuestros futuros: Un nuevo contrato social para la educaciĆ³n. She is the author or co-author of more than 25 textbooks, educational books and books for children, and has given lectures in English and Spanish in 18 countries around the world. Guerra is the founder of the network of Valle de Filadelfia schools, with a presence in five Latin American countries. In 2017, Al Jazeera (Middle East) made a documentary about her, recognizing her proposal as one of the six most important educational innovations worldwide.
