Carlos Peña is a lawyer, philosopher and has been Vice-Chancellor of Diego Portales University since 2005. He holds a Law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Chile, and has built an outstanding academic and public career. He has been a visiting lecturer at universities in Latin America and Europe, as well as a speaker at institutions such as the World Bank, Stanford University and the United Nations Development Programme, particularly on issues relating to the modernisation of the justice system. He is a columnist for the newspaper El Mercurio, a board member of CIPER and the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, and the author of numerous books and publications.
