Yayo Herrero is a consultant, researcher and professor in the fields of political ecology, ecofeminisms and education for sustainability. She holds a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, a Diploma in Social Education and a Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, as well as a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Educational Theory and Social Pedagogy. She is currently a member of Garúa Sociedad Cooperativa and a lecturer in several Spanish universities. She is the chairwoman of the Foro de Transiciones. Herrero is the author and co-author of more than thirty books and regularly collaborates with several media outlets. She is a member of Ecologistas en Acción, of which she was a Confederal Coordinator between 2005 and 2014.
