David Lindo, known as The Urban Birder, is an ornithologist, naturalist, radio and television host, tour guide, and educator, focused above all on connecting city dwellers with the environment through birdwatching. He is the author of The Urban Birder; How to Be an Urban Birder; Tales from the Concrete Jungle: Urban Birding Around the World; and The Extraordinary World of Birds. In 2020, Lindo was shortlisted for the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Columnist of the Year Award. And in 2024, his book FLY was shortlisted for the Wainwright Award for children’s nature literature. He is a regular contributor to several leading nature magazines, including Nature's Home (the RSPB's member magazine, with a circulation of over one million), Bird Watching Magazine (UK), BBC Wildlife Magazine, and Bird Watchers Digest (USA).
