His interest in local self-sustainability and his awareness of the importance of participation and decolonial approaches to address the necessary transitions in the 21st-century have become central to his current research projects. In these he works on the conflicts generated by energy colonialism, and possible alternatives based on agroecology and local agrifood systems in the bioregional context.
