DJ Mondol

dj-mondol Lover of good music, collector of vinyl records, social communicator, researcher and cultural manager, these are some of the ways we can define Aroldo Mondol Quintana, better known in the world of music as DJ Mondol. Since he was a child, he was captivated by the sounds that echoed from the peaks of his native district and for more than 15 years he has been promoting, in Cartagena, musical proposals inspired by the sounds of the Caribbean Music Festival, an idea that beyond dancing and enjoyment, enhances the cultural value that music has in terms of social transformation. There are many musical genres that we can enjoy at a DJ Mondol performance: his mixes travel from Africa with Afrobeat, highlife, rumba, soukous, to connect with the salsa, soca, reggae and dancehall of Central America to later join with our champeta and tropical rhythms, giving his sets a unique touch. He currently leads the Champeta en Pasta project with other DJs, an initiative that seeks to preserve the early champeta and African music of Colombia in vinyl format.
