CREOLE GROUP

creole-group The CREOLE GROUP was founded by the artist Orston Christopher, who, before his death, recommended to the young people of the ensemble that they keep up their musical traditions, and since then the legacy of maestro Orston has been maintained. Recognized by Raizals as a prominent performer of traditional music, the group has represented the Raizal culture in Africa, Asia, America and Europe. Their contribution can be seen not only in their performances, but also in the transmission of their knowledge to the new generations, who have taken the group as a role model. In this way, teaching and disseminating the musical legacy has cemented its presence among new groups on the island. The strength of the group is not only reflected in its music but also in the permanence of its members who have been with it since it was founded. Today, marking 36 years, they present new songs with the maturity of a new sound that recreates the tradition and language of popular and urban music. Their lyrics are a reflection of the cultural life of the islanders, of the Raizals, and their voices represent something of contemporary life on the islands.
