César Augusto BETANCUR

A 58-year-old native of Antioquia, he won prizes at a number of trova festivals, and his nickname dates back to that period. He began his career as a scriptwriter for El Manicomio de Vargasvil on Caracol Radio. He wrote for Los Marinillos on La Luciérnaga, directed La Zaranda on RCN Radio, wrote the political satire programme La Banda Francotiradores for Canal RCN, and since 2005 has written series and soap operas. For Canal Caracol, he wrote, among other productions, Muñoz vale por dos, La Selección (India Catalina Award for Best Screenplay) and Las hermanitas Calle (India Catalina Award and TVyNovelas Award for Best Screenplay). He also wrote and produced the comedies Infraganti, Cállate y escribe, Hay un complot, El verbo placer (for Flavia Dos Santos), El Puesto (with César Mora), Mucho Animal (for Róbinson Díaz), Cepeda en tablas (for Andrés Cepeda), Me Ericé (for Amparo Grisales), and Semejante show (for the comedian Luz Amparo Álvarez). He wrote the series Rigo for Canal RCN, inspired by the life and career of cyclist Rigoberto Urán (nominated for an International Emmy in 2024 for Best Series). He recently wrote the series Cosiaca for Teleantioquia and he is at the head of the new seasons of Yo soy Betty la fea, which airs on Prime Video.
