Jhon Narváez was born and raised in Cartagena, in the Colombian Caribbean. He holds a degree in Humanities from the INEM and also has degrees in Linguistics and Literature from the University of Cartagena and one in Fiction from the International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. He is the artistic director of the Tornado Cartagena Audiovisual Festival. Creator of Capitán Cartagena, a very particular superhero. As an administrator, he has developed the following cultural projects: FICCI’s Cine en los Barrios, the Pedro Romero Vive Aquí artistic collective, the Conéctate Caribe Foundation, and the Festival Accesible Concierto Sentido. He has taught on the Film and Audiovisual programme at the University of Magdalena and the Direction and Production programme at La Tadeo. He is a consultant for the Potencia Étnica Audiovisual strategy run by Corporación Manos Visibles. A theatre actor since childhood, he made his television debut in the series La Niña Emilia - Déjala Morir, and in film in the movie Pájaros de Verano. In Rebelión, he plays the musician Joe Arroyo, a part that earned him the 2023 Macondo Award for Best Leading Actor. His most recent projects include Pepe, Llueve Sobre Babel, and Cavalaria Espacial.
