Ana María Belique is co-founder and leader of Reconocido, a movement that mobilizes and empowers Dominicans of Haitian descent in the fight for equality and the rights of nationality and non-racial discrimination. She was a visiting student at Columbia University in the 2022–2023 cohort of the Human Rights Watch.. She coordinated the publication of the books Nos Cambió La Vida and Somos Quién Somos, which document the life stories of Dominicans of Haitian descent affected by denationalization and racism in the Dominican Republic. Is the author of the children’s book, La muñeca Dieula.
