Juan Carlos CORONEL

Born in Cartagena, he has played with some of the great orchestras of our time, including the Adolfo Echevarria Orchestra. In 1991 he represented Colombia at the OTI festival in Mexico. In 1999 he returned to salsa with a production in Puerto Rico, entitled Un Mundo Para Dos. In 2000 he broke with his previous style and paid tribute to Colombian Andean music, with a production of bambucos, valses and pasillos. He has toured the Americas and was a special guest for the coronation of Miss Colombia in Miami (USA). In 2004 he was invited to commemorate the Independence of Colombia (July 20) in Madrid, Spain, by invitation from Dr Noemi Sanim, Colombian ambassador in Spain, and Dr Nora Trujillo, Colombian Cultural Attaché in that country. Superstición is the title of the album that Coronel considers to be a unique work in folk and Caribbean music, rich in nuance. In it he combines traditional elements with contemporary sounds, with chalupa, bullerengue, cumbia, porro, chande and salsa rhythms featuring on this album, with its incomparable and unrepeatable style.
