Born in the Dominican Republic, she currently lives in Colombia. She holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Social Anthropology from the National University of Colombia. She lectures at this university and is an activist in the anti-racist and decolonial feminist movement, as well as a co-founder of the Latin American Group for Feminist Studies, Training and Action (GLEFAS). She has written multiple articles in which she examines race, class, sex, sexuality and nation. Her publications include the books: La Nación Heterosexual, Análisis del Discurso jurídico y el Régimen Heterosexual desde la Antropología de la Dominación (2013) and Un Golpe de Estado: la Sentencia 168-13. Continuidades y discontinuidades del racismo en República Dominicana (2021) and she has also been the co-editor of several books. She has been invited to different national and international conferences and events. She has received several scholarships for academic excellence and was recognized for her excellence in teaching by the Faculty of Human Sciences of the National University of Colombia in 2016 and received the honorary distinction of Feminist from the Sociologists for Women in Society organisation for her career and contributions to international feminism, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2022.
