Liliana Viola (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1963) is a journalist, publisher, playwright and screenwriter. She studied Literature at the University of Buenos Aires. In 2008, she founded the SOY supplement of the newspaper Página/12, the first weekly newspaper supplement dedicated to sexual diversity, which she edited for 14 years. She has published three critical compilations of archival material: Amores para armar (El Quirquincho, 1993), El libro de los testamentos (El Ateneo, 1995), Los discursos del poder (Tesis Norma, 2001); and two biographies: Migré. El maestro de las telenovelas que revolucionó la educación sentimental de un país (Random House, 2017) and “Esta no soy yo” Biografía de Aurora Venturini (Tusquets, 2023); two plays, Qué de magnífico tiene ser yo starring Sofía Gala, Castiglione, Analía Couceiro, and Zoe Di Rienzo, directed by Julieta Ascar; and Como nunca… otra vez, starring Franco Torchia, Juampi Mirabelli, and directed by Alejandro Tantanian. As the executor of Aurora Venturini's work, she is responsible for the critical edition of her works. She has also written scripts for documentary series, including Testamentos (Canal A) and Mirándote(Televisión Pública); she is the editor of the book Nuestros Códigos published by the Archivo de la Memoria Trans; and curated the Maitena. Las mujeres de mi vida exhibition at the Kirchner Cultural Centre and published the related book Las mujeres de mi vida (Random House, 2024); she was guest curator of the FAQ (Queer Art Festival), where she ran exhibitions such as Sombrillas parlantes (Fundación Proa, 2022), Las glorias de Urdapilleta (Casa Brandon, 2023) and Polvo de estrellas (Planetarium, 2023), among others. She also produces the podcast of intimate stories by Latin American authors, Me lo llevo a la tumba, together with Franco Torchia and Tomás Balmaceda.
