Olivia ROSENTHAL

rosenthal-olivia

Olivia Rosenthal (Paris, 1965) is one of the most singular voices in contemporary French literature. She runs the Master's in Creative Writing that she created at the University of Paris, 8. Since 2005, she has also written for the theatre and performed in collaboration with filmmakers, playwrights, and choreographers. Her work, recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Wepler and Livre Inter prizes, blends fantasy and tragedy, meticulous observation of reality and philosophy, humour and emotion, to explore human nature, including even its animal aspects. Formal experimentation, based on interviews, occupies an important place in her work. Integrating a diversity of voices and points of view on the topics she addresses a literary principle of hers that proves her ethical and political commitment.
