Bi'ani Madsa' JUÁREZ LÓPEZ

A biologist with a master's degree in tropical ecology, she has conducted interdisciplinary research on the relationship between community organization, tree conservation, and shade-grown coffee production in her Ayuuk community. She has participated in participatory mapping projects. She has published three scientific papers and several articles. She is currently the Co-Executive Director of the Indigenous Medicine Conservation Fund, an international nonprofit organization. She also collaborates with the Mixe Collective (COLMIX) and the Communities for Autonomy collective in Mayan territory. With her family and Ayuuk community, she has a coffee production business. She has spent the last seven years of experience in philanthropy, collaborating globally with Indigenous Peoples and communities to strengthen their territories and cultures. Her work approach, worldview, and thinking focus on collaborating in the strengthening of Indigenous Peoples to achieve their autonomy in the exercise of their Self-Determination.
