María Rebeca Mendoza Romero is a lawyer by profession, and a writer by conviction. She is a PhD candidate in Human Rights. She wrote her first children's novel, Ernestina, una brujita miedosa (2020), for her daughter. It was published, and thanks to the enthusiasm of more than a thousand children who have read it, she wrote Ernestina, un sueño hecho realidad (2023). She has contributed short stories of various genres to eleven anthologies published in Queretaro, Hidalgo, and Veracruz. Her poems have been published in the anthology Poesía para la vida in Panama. Her poem, Mujer Fuego, was exhibited at the Eterno Femenino event in Aguascalientes. She holds two diplomas in child and young adult literature from the Cátedra Centroamericana de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil, endorsed by the University of San Carlos Guatemala (USAC). She participates in promoting children's reading and writing by teaching workshops on the Escuela para Padres programme run by the Queretaro State Education Department. As a member of the Abrazo de letras artistic and cultural collective, she has performed in schools, from preschool to university, as well as in private companies and public institutions. She is the founder of the LeeR.MAx Children's Reading Club, registered with the Fondo de Cultura Económica. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Queretaro Literary Council. She participates in municipal, state, national, and international book fairs, including the Guadalajara Book Fair.
