Wanjeri Gakuru is a freelance journalist, essayist, curator and filmmaker. A cross-section of her writing has appeared in Transition Magazine, CNN, Akademie Schloss Solitude, LA Times Magazine and The Africa Report among others. Wanjeri was selected as the 2018 Literary Ambassador for Nairobi by Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel and is a 2021 Baraza Media-Fringe Graph Fellow. Wanjeri is a 2021 Docubox Short Film Grant winner, a 2022 Interfilm Script Pitch finalist and the winner of a 2023 Kosinima Inc Short Film Grant. Wanjeri is also the curator of the 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions of Nairobi Litfest.
