Born in 1999, Salma El Moumni grew up in Tangier before leaving her native Morocco to study in France. She graduated from Comparative Literature at ENS de Lyon and lives now in Paris after a small detour via Copenhagen. Her first novel, Adieu Tanger (Grasset, 2023), depicts the consequences of the male gaze on a young woman's body. It won the "Prix France Culture des Étudiants 2024" and was finalist of the "Prix Médicis". It is currently being translated into several languages, including Spanish, Arabic, and English.
Her second novel will be published in 2026.
