Dr. Leticia Carigi is a Senior Research Fellow at the UNAM Institute of Astronomy and a Level III member of the National System of Researchers. She specializes in the development of numerical models to understand the chemical evolution of galaxies and the search for habitable zones in the universe. Her research interests include cosmochemistry, galactic archaeology and astrobiology. She is a member of various national and international scientific societies, has supervised numerous theses, and taught nearly 70 courses. Co-author of relevant works on chemical evolution in galaxies and astrobiology at galactic scales, she is also actively involved in scientific outreach through multiple media and activities. Committed to sustainability and the inclusion of women in science, she has contributed to the academic and communications structure of UNAM. Her career has been recognized with nominations for the L'Oréal-UNESCO-Mexican Academy of Science Award for Women in Science and the National University Award for Research in Exact Sciences. In 2010, UNAM granted her the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz award.
