Jaled ABDELRAHIM ARANDA

Jaled Abdelrahim is a journalist and editorial chief of the daily news section at AJ+ Español, Al Jazeera's digital outlet. He has been telling stories for 16 years in various formats: print, radio and video. He has worked for or collaborated with outlets such as El País, Gatopardo, Univisión, Yorokobu, and Fusión, and has reported from Europe, North Africa, the Arab world, and throughout Latin America. His coverage has touched on topics ranging from organized crime to various social, environmental and cultural issues, and his work has been recognized with awards such as the 2019 Gabo Award, in the Innovation category, for Mujeres en la vitrina, and the Walter Reuter Award, for a report on the activism and death of El Mijis, a Mexican congressman. He has also developed investigative documentary content such as El Portal, a Netflix series made with the production company Mezcla that looks at the trafficking of women from the Global South to Mexico. Jaled lives in Mexico City and maintains a very personal connection with the Middle East: he has worked extensively on themes related to Palestine, his country of origin and where his paternal family lives. This has allowed him to visit the place frequently since childhood and keeps him especially attentive to what is happening in the region.
