Hernández was born and lives in Madrid. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and has completed artist residencies in Rome, Vienna and Berlin. His work has been exhibited in museums and institutions such as the Meadows Museum, Dallas (2019); Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC, 2018); Taidehalli Kunsthalle, Helsinki (2018); Royal Academy of Arts, London (2017); YUZ Museum, Shanghai (2015); Museo Patio Herreriano, Valladolid (2013); Espace d’exposition des Ateliers d’Artistes de la Ville, Marseille (2012); Ballhaus Ost, Berlin (2011); Biennial of La Paz, Bolivia (2007); and the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (RAER, 2006). His work is represented in notable collections such as the Friedrichs Collection, Bonn; Meadows Museum, Dallas; Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, Madrid; North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh; Banco de España Collection, Madrid; Museo de Historia de Madrid; Contemporary Art Collection at Museo Patio Herreriano, Valladolid; Rubell Family Collection, Miami; and the Miettinen Collection, Berlin.
