Luis Carranza Ugarte is the CEO of Alpha Asesoría Estratégica and was the Executive President of CAF (2017-2021). He served as Peru's Minister of Economy and Finance for two terms (2006-2009) and previously as Deputy Minister of Finance. He has been BBVA's Chief Economist for Latin America, an IMF official, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Peru, as well as of financial and industrial organisations in Peru and abroad. In academia, he is the Director of the Institute of Government and Public Management at the Universidad San Martín de Porres (Peru). He has been a lecturer in Macroeconomics at the University of Navarre (Spain) and at the USMP in Mexico. He is the author of various publications on economic development and fiscal and monetary policy. He holds a PhD in Economics from the PUCP and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota (USA). He has received recognition as Economist of the Year (2008) and Best Finance Minister in the region (2007), and won the Hipólito Unanue Decoration for Economic-Financial Merit (2009).
