He trained in Audiovisual Communication at the Peruvian Advertising Institute and the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. He studied Cultural Management at the Lima Art Museum and took curatorial workshops at the Torcuato di Tella University in Buenos Aires. He recently completed a Master's degree in Media and Culture at Goldsmiths, University of London. From 2011 to 2014, he was the Visual Arts Coordinator for the Alliance Française in Lima. In Lima, he has curated exhibitions for major cultural institutions, including the Alliance Française; the Peruvian North American Cultural Institute; the British Cultural Institute; the Museum of Contemporary Art; the Lima Photography Biennial; the British Embassy in Lima; and the British Government’s Regional Office for Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Overseas Territories. He has also been a guest curator for the Deutsche Bank Gallery and the Instituto Cervantes, both in New York City. He is currently curating the Peruvian Pavilion at the London Design Biennial. Since 2010, Carlos Caamaño has been at the head of Espacio Fotográfico, an independent initiative involving a group of well-established Latin American photographers and whose main goal is to promote photography internationally. The platform has an active international circulation, having presented projects in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Basel, Berlin, New York, Barcelona and London. In parallel to his work as a curator, Carlos writes texts for photography exhibitions and has published articles in specialized magazines. He is regularly invited as a jury member and speaker by important art institutions.
