Miriam Ramírez is a Mexican journalist with over 15 years of experience, specializing in covering government corruption, organized crime, and human rights. She is currently a member of the Investigative and Data Journalism Unit at El Universal. In 2025, she received Premio Gabo in the Coverage category for an investigation into the rise in migrant deaths amid militarized immigration policies on both sides of the Mexico-US border. In 2023, she received the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) Excellence in Journalism Award. That same year, she was a finalist for the 2023 Javier Valdez Latin American Prize for Investigative Journalism. She was a reporter for the Mexican media outlets Ríodoce, Noroeste, and El Informador, and a correspondent in Sinaloa for the Agence Française (AFP).
