Santiago Vanegas is a journalist and editor for BBC News Mundo in the United States. He previously worked as a broadcast journalist for the Colombian outlet La Silla Vacía and co-authored the book Los presidenciables (Aguilar, 2022). He was nominated for the Gabo Prize in 2023 and was a judge for the BBC News Awards in 2024 and 2025. He is the co-founder and co-chair of BBC Global Young Voices. He writes about politics, culture, technology and religion. He is a Politics and History graduate of the University of the Andes.
