Sissi Hamann is Country Director of the British Council in Peru, where she leads programmes in English teaching, internationalisation of Higher Education and teacher development. A sociologist and art historian with studies in the philosophy and theories of art within the Sanskrit traditions, she has combined academic work with cultural management. She was Academic Director at the National School of Fine Arts of Peru and a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for Oriental Studies at PUCP. Alongside her teaching, she has developed curatorial projects and collaborations with artists in Peru, Chile, India and the UK.
