Andrea Otero Cortés (Sincelejo, Colombia) is an economist from the University of the Andes and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, United States. She researches how work and inequality shape people's daily lives in contexts of high informality. At the Banco de la República, she combines empirical data analysis with a sensitive view of the links between economics, society and territory. She is the author of articles and books on development, informality and gender, and promotes the participation of girls and young women from the Colombian Caribbean in science.
