Joca REINERS TERRON

Joca Reiners Terron (Brazil, 1968) founded the Ciência do Acidente publishing house, through which he published his first book of poems, Eletroencefalodrama (1998). This company also published his first novel, Não Há Nada Lá (2001), and his second poetry book, Animal Anônimo (2002). Terron has also published the short story books Hotel Hell (2003), Curva de Rio Sujo (2003) and Sonho Interrompido por Guilhotina (2006), as well as Guia de Ruas sem Saída, a graphic novel illustrated by André Ducci (2012). In 2010, he received the Machado de Assis Prize from the National Library for his novel Do Fundo do Poço se Vê a Lua. He has published A Tristeza Extraordinária do Leopardo-Das-Neves (2013; in Spanish in 2015), Noite Dentro da Noite (2017), A morte e o meteoro (2019; in Spanish in 2024) and O Riso dos Ratos (2021), among other novels. His latest novel is Onde Pastam os Minotauros (2023), winner of the 2023 APCA Prize. He has translated Juan Gabriel Vásquez, Enrique Vila-Matas, Javier Cercas, Roberto Bolaño, Mario Levrero, Guadalupe Nettel, Samanta Schweblin, Michel Nieva, Camila Sosa Villada, Richard Brautigan and Charles Bukowski, among other authors. His books have been translated into Spanish, Arabic, French and Italian.
